Ranil certain peace lovers would vote for him

by Sarath Samaranayake and Indika Polkotuwa in Kandy

UNP Presidential candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe said he is certain that peace loving people and others who wish a better tomorrow would vote for him at the forthcoming elections.

He was speaking at his inaugural propaganda rally held under - end to hunger, employment to ability and defeat to separatism in Kandy yesterday. Representatives from the CWC, UPF and SLMC participated.

Wickremesinghe charged that the Alliance formed by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse in collaboration with a group of politicians was a rude coalition of deception and lies.

He said that a group of people who want power at any cost has joined Rajapakse and their sole aim is not the development of the country but defeating him at the election.

UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya, Chairman Malik Samarawickrema, Deputy General Secretary Tissa Attanayake, MPs Keheliya Rambukwella, Lakshman Kiriella, Naveen Dissanayake, Hemakumara Nanayakkara, Rajitha Senaratne spoke. Central Provincial Council Opposition Leader Wasantha Aluvihare, Kandy Mayor Kesara Senanayake and Senkadagala UNP Organiser Chandana Suriyabandara also participated.
