Campaigning for Mahinda at Hyde Park

A rally and a procession were held at Hyde Park, London on October 2, to support the presidential candidate, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse. "Lawyers and professionals in UK for Mahinda", organised this event in order to muster the support of the international community and Sri Lankans worldwide for Mahinda.

All of them thus mobilised themselves with the British public to help him to take the country forward to freedom and prosperity based on his new vision for Sri Lanka.

There were cultural events and speeches by various speakers and among the speakers were Dr. Vakula Gunapala, George Panapitiya and several others.

Addressing the gathering, one of the expatriates, Mr. Wijesingha emphasised the need to unite shedding petty differences, aiming at a victory for the people of Sri Lanka. He pointed out how powerful and important the expatriate community is in influencing their relations and friends back home as they have very close contact.

There was a large gathering at the rally including Sri Lankans, Asians, British and others from many parts of the world.

Seen in the picture are some of the participants at the rally.
