Navin's brother remains loyal to UNP

by Ananda Kannangara

Nuwara-Eliya District MP Navin Dissanayake recently assured that his brother Mayantha Dissanayake will pledge his support to the UNP candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe at the upcoming Presidential Election.

He made these observations at a media conference in Colombo, where a group of media personnel inquired from him whether his brother Mayantha Dissanayake was at a political meeting, attended by Presidential candidate Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse.

"I do not want to disclose everything that happened in the past. However my brother Mayantha is abroad at the moment and will support the UNP candidate considering that it was the party my late father Gamini Dissanayaka was an ardent member of right throughout his political career," he said.

Speaking further Dissanayake also said that the 11th death anniversary of the late Minister Gamini Dissanayake will be conducted at Ananda Cumaraswamy Mawatha, Colombo on October 22nd at 9.00 am under the patronage of Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.

"A floral tribute will be placed at the statue of the late Minister to coincide with the occasion," he said.
