Talking point : Young turks sidelined

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe who had several unsuccessful trials with new young faces on his missions was later seen seeking the assistance of former politicians' sons and daughters. As a result, late President R. Premadasa's son Sajith Premadasa and Gamini Dissanayake's son Navin Dissanayake were playing big roles for the UNP.

However, the Opposition Leader has suddenly decided to halt them in their tracks.

The young Navin known as a realistic person had recently said that the UNP's `House to house' propaganda campaign was a failure and brought no positive results for the party. According to reliable sources the UNP Leader had decided to sideline him again.

The Opposition Leader is enraged over a statement by Sajith Premadasa that he intends to become the President of this country in the near future. This has shocked the Opposition Leader who has decided to keep him also away from the election campaign.

Meanwhile it is also reported that former Minister G. L. Pieris who held the post of spokesman of the UNP and the UNF had also been sidelined.
