ITF Junior Tennis :
Hee and Grace win singles titles by Lal Gunesekera Lee Dae Hee of South Korea and Indonesia's Grace Sari Ysidora won the Boys and Girls Singles titles respectively at the Asian Under-14 Tennis Series of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) in conjunction with the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) at the National Tennis Centre (NTC) in Greenpath. Korea's Lee Dae Hee beat India's Irfan Ahmed Hussain in straight sets (6-1, 6-3) to win the Boys Singles. In the 'semis', Hee beat Indonesia's Farudian Hutauruk (6-4, 6-0), while Hussain beat his countryman, Manjua in a three setter at 5-7, 7-6, (3), 6-3. The Boys Doubles was won by the Indonesian pair of Sameer Paranjape and Farudian Hutauruk beating India's Ifran Ahmed Hussain and Ronak Manjua 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. In the 'semis', Paranjape and Hutauruk beat Sri Lanka's B. Thassim and D. Thangarajah in straight sets (6-1, 6-3), while Hussain and Manjua beat another Sri Lankan combination of S. Gomez and E. Jayamanne also in straight sets (6-2, 6-3). Grace Sari Ysidora of Indonesia who won the Girls Singles title beat her countrywoman Nadia Frederiko in straight sets (6-4, 6-4), while in the 'semis', Grace beat Sri Lanka's Nilupul Gunasekera 7-6 (3), 6-3 and Nadia beat Amrita Muttiah also of Sri Lanka in straight sets (6-0, 6-1). Grace and Nadia then combined effectively to win the Girls Doubles title beating Sri Lankan pair of Nilupul Gunasekera and Shenali Weerasekera quite comfortably (6-1, 6-1). |
