Annesley Ferreira no more

Annesley Ferreira, the former Sports Editor of the Sunday Times passed away on Friday after gallantly 'fighting' a long illness. He was 59 years at the time of his death.

He was attached first to Ceylon Tobacco Company and then switched over to sports journalism at the Sun Newspapers Group from where he joined the Times Group of Newspapers, ending up as the Sports Editor.

Knowing him pretty well for number of years, Annesley, was a 'fighter' to the end and a fearless writer who brought many injustices to sportsmen and women as well as sports bodies to the notice of the readers.

He leaves behind his wife, Loretta and four children (Fiona, Marlon, Andreen and Willabe).

The funeral took place last evening (Saturday) at the General Cemetery, Kanatte.
