People's caravan for justice and sovereignty 2005 People's Caravan for Justice and Sovereignty 2005 - Sri Lankan mobilization against the WTO ministerial in Hong Kong December 2005 launched on November 26 from Colombo plans to cover sectors including Fisheries, Agriculture, Plantation, Trade and Tamil communities in North and East in all over the country, by two separate journeys. The first phase of the caravan travelled through the fisher and tsunami affected areas in costal belt and it will travel until the December 10 while having key campaigns in Negombo, Kalpitiya, Karuwalagawewa, Trincomale, Kurunegala, Polonnaruwa, Baticoloa, Ampara, Hambanttoa, Matara, Galle, and Kaluthara. This Caravan is coordinating by National Fisheries Solidarity (NAFSO). Second phase of the Caravan which started on December 1 will travel until December 9 through farmer and plantation areas mobilizing and awakening the farmers and plantation workers on WTO issues. This Caravan which started from Kiribathgoda will pass through Ganemulla, Gampaha, Nittabuwa, Warakapola, Kurunegala, Wariyapola, Abanpola, Galgamuwa, Eppawala, Thalawa, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Galewela, Matale, Kandy, Mahiyangana, Bibile, Monaragala, Buttala, Wellawaya, Ella, Haliela, Badulla, Bandarawela, Welimada, Nuwaraeliya, thalawakele, Haton, Ginigathhena, Ruwanwella, Awissawella, Homagama, Maharagama, Nugegoda and Malabe. This phase of the caravan is coordinated by Movement for Land and Agricultural Reform (MONLAR) with the hands of National Farmers Assembly, Janawabodaya Centre, Peoples Planning Commission and Alliance for the Protection of National Recourses and Human Rights (ANRHR). |
