The Nuwara Eliya Mayor Chandanalal Karunaratne (UNP) congratulated the newly elected President Mahinda Rajapakse on his resounding victory at the Presidential election.

He said that the government under the leadership of the President will give all guidance and co-operation towards successfully implementing various development projects of the council.

Member Mahinda Kumara called for the government and the Ceylon Tourist Board for their positive and meaningful measures towards the Nuwara Eliya.

He also wanted the government and President Mahinda Rajapakse for their unstinted co-operation and goodwill towards further developments in tourism with modern ideas and programs in tourist centres like Nuwara Eliya and other places in the hillcountry.
