Entries for the third annual CIMA Janashakthi Pinnacle Awards is now open and will close on February 21. The 2005 awards presentation is scheduled to take place on March 28 at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo. The Janashakthi Pinnacle awards recognises business excellence, leadership, management and teamwork at the highest standards and regards excellence in professionalism among the cream of the country's business community, CIMA executive director, Upali Ratnayake said. The Pinnacle awards were launched three years ago with the primary objective of recognising aspiring CIMA members as future business leaders and facilitating their careers. It was felt that the CIMA membership's career potential should not be limited to their academic achievements but a repertoire of other individual personalty characteristics. It was also intended to promote green managers as future business leaders, create entrepreneurs and sought after employers and in this way, contribute to the economic prosperity of the nation, chairman, Janashakthi Pinnacle awards, Aravinda Perera said. This year, out of four awards, the business leader of the year and chief financial officer, are open to the members of the public. The young CIMA star and business manager of the year awards are applicable only to CIMA members, CIMA president, Lalith Fonseka said. The young CIMA star award will be awarded as gold, silver or bronze, to the most outstanding CIMA member or passed out finalist under 30 years, in terms of career and personal achievements during the last three years, with special emphasis on achievements of 2005. The selection of winners will be based on points earned with regard to information disclosed in the entry application and an interview with a panel of judges comprising recognised corporate leaders, CIMA's director operations, Aruna Alwis said. The business manager of the year award in gold, silver and bronze will be given to the most outstanding CIMA member below 40 years. Potential candidates will be judged in terms of career and personal achievements acquired within the last three years, with special emphasis on achievements made in 2005, as well as marks awarded from information disclosed in the entry application form, and on their performance at an interview conducted by a distinguished panel of judges. The chief financial officer (CFO) of the year award is introduced this year. It is meant to engender, recognise and reward financial leadership. This award is presented in three sub categories, being large medium and small organisations, each being a gold award. These awards are intended as a prestigious recognition for distinction in finance and seek to honour those persons who have demonstrated outstanding capabilities and achievements in the wake of fundamental transformation in their core functions. CFO candidates can be nominated by their colleagues, Perera told a media conference. The Business leader of the year, is the most distinguished award and is granted to recognise leaders who have made a significant contribution to their organisation and the business community. This is a national level award, that will highlight one person who is a model of the best qualities of leadership and best practice in business, today. The winner would be one who adheres to qualities that both CIMA and
Janashakthi consider to be vital in their own organisations. Judges will
also require proof of competency in areas of outstanding corporate
leadership, corporate social responsibility and outstanding personal
achievements. The award for gold only, is for large medium and small
organisations. |
