An undercover LTTE cadre, suspected of carrying out the deadly claymore attack on Thursday, killing three policemen and a civilian was shot dead yesterday evening by an unidentified gunman.

The LTTE intelligence cadre was killed on Mawangam beach in Batticaloa by a gunman at around 6 o'clock in the evening.

Security Forces said the deceased had carried out the claymore mine attack on a bus carrying policemen and soldiers on Thursday killing three policemen and a civilian at Thandavavali, Batticaloa.

Seventeen soldiers, nine policemen and eight civilians were injured in the explosion on Thursday.
