Singtoroj, was impressed by Sri Lanka's projected economic performance for 2006, of 6 percent. He noted that this growth is expected to come from major industrial categories such as textiles, weaving apparel, leather products, food and chemical products. Also, that the production of fish is expected to reach 275 million kilograms during the year. Thus, Thai Airways, foresaw the growth of international trade, here. With it, Thai Airways, also anticipated more raw materials to enter Sri Lanka and more finished products, to be freighted out. The Thai, managing director, assured that as a cargo carrier, his entity will coordinate closely to carry such growing traffic, to and out of Sri Lanka. In June, this year, Thai Airways projects the opening of a customs free zone warehouse at its new airport in Bangkok called Suvarnabhumi. Thus, Thai has restructured its distribution channel in Sri Lanka by working with a general sales agent so that Thai Cargo can better reach out to the outreaches of Sri Lanka, and can better satisfy the island's growing business requirements, Singtoraj said. MAC Holding's CEO, Andre Fernando, told businesspersons, who used Thai Cargo air freight services that he looked forward to their cooperation in filling all Thai cargo space allocations throughout the year and in the years to come. He also thanked the customers of Thai, who had supported the airline during its direct presence, here.
