Video clip launch

Compiled byUmangi de Mel

Iraj Weeraratne, one of the most talented youngsters and a maestro of hip-hop in Sri Lanka launches his seventh video clip called Aloke Genadevi which has already proven to be a hit among Sri Lankan youth.

His self-titled debut album 'Iraj' has managed to break the island's record for the All-time fastest-selling as well as the Fastest-selling debut album as it surpassed the all important 100,000 mark in just four weeks.

The video clip for the popular single Aloke Genadevi (remix) has now been officially released to all local TV stations. It's the first video clip from a track that's been featured in his second album 'Chapter Two' which is nearing completion.

The Aloke Genadevi video clip which has been done together with Ranidu Lankage is apparently the most expensive video to be shot and produced in Sri Lanka.

The track has been placed number one in several local radio stations for eight months. Having also been the number two for seven consecutive weeks in the BBC Radio, Asian chart hosted by Bobby Friction, the single has enjoyed airplay worldwide mainly due to its release as part of the album titled DJ Nihal presents Bombay Bronx which is released under HOM records and Universal Music India.

The video clip is also set to be launched globally through several international TV stations, including MTV India, Channel V India, B4V, Zee music and MTV Desi USA.

The picturesque video clip also includes local movie stars like Nadeesha Nirosha and Sachini together with several hip hop artistes like Krishna Maheson, B. K. and Yawuanan. The clip can also be downloaded from Iraj's official webpage, www.irajonline.com.

Iraj and Ranidu will also perform at the Bombay Bronx concert to be held in March in London, which is hosted by BBC Radio One.

Not stopping there, Iraj plans to launch a clothing line labelled " 'I' wear" in April, this year.
