Exhilarating

by Rikaza Hassan

On a recent trip, Sunday Observer Photographer Thilak Perera captured these hills of the cool up country region, in an attempt to bring you the beauty of the hill country and soothe your soul from the harsh burning sun.

Thilak captures the haunting aspects of the hills, the thick mist, the little of light and the lonely tree trunks, long dead in the early hours of the morning or the late evening.

The trains on the railway tracks, zig-zagging their way across the country, ascending and descending, penetrating the darkness of the tunnels, bring joy to the little child and calm and excitement to the young lovers.

Water falls are just a part of the spectacular views that abound the up country. Tea estates grow lush and green on the hills; the factories perched ever so high above, are indeed exhilarating.

The immense beauty of the up-country region is breathtaking. A trip through the countryside is a relaxing and worthy experience.
