What women admire in men

by N. Muthukumar

Newspapers, magazines, radio and television have been spending plenty of time telling women the ways of becoming better, sociable, more charming personalities, how to handle the humans etc. But, nobody seems to be bothered about the mere male. Somehow he has got lost in the shuffle. May I, then, for a change, say something about men that even men may not be knowing!

The best way to get a man interested in himself is by flatter. Tell a man you are going to turn him into a civilized person and he will get sore. But he will have no objection to your suggestion about the latent magnetism that he is pretty sure he has got. Every man has a personality but, unless he makes the most of it, in his social and business life, it is like having money in the Bank that he never draws on. Not many men are as handsome as they think but, far too many have the fixed idea that they are a thing of beauty and joy for ever.

Women look into mirrors for re-assurance - men for sheer pleasure!!!

You do not believe it? Well, next time you are in the bus or a train, watch the fellow next to you sneaking glances at his reflection in the window pane. Yet, male magnetism has nothing to do with physical beauty. Some of the greatest lovers had the appearance of dispossessed kitchen mice.

Others could have passed as ghastly gargoyles. Women are interested in what men say and how they say it, what they do and how they do it, the way they walk, the way they sound, the way they tackle life.

Lack of inches seems to be another big embarrassment. But, one of the greatest little men in history - Napoleon Bonaparte, wonderful in the battle field was no slouch with the girls! One of my college mates, who was not more than five feet tall, but he had more glamour girls' addresses and phone numbers in his diary than any of his six foot friends. What he lacked in height, he made up in charm - of course, to my chagrin!! His constant aim is to please others, makes him popular with men and women alike.

Most men admit that it is sex-appeal they look for in women. Women are more suitable - they are interested in sense-appeal. A man must appeal to a woman's eye, to her ear, to her touch.

Many women fall in love with a voice. Yet, few men are careful about the way they express themselves. The sound most men emit in conversation with their girlfriends is guttural, even at times, un-intelligible. Women are suckers for the neatly turned phrase!

To appeal to a woman's eye, a man has to dress with taste. Do not try to compensate for lack of personality with costly clothes and shiny shoes. Taste is a matter of discernment, not price. And remember this: a good man inspires a woman, a brilliant man interest her, a handsome man fascinates her - but, it is the considerate man who, finally, gets her!!!
