Nuwara Eliya district UNP parliamentarian S. B. Dissanayaka walks to freedom on March 27 on completion of his jail term, Prisons Deputy Commissioner Gunaratna Kuruppu told the Sunday Observer yesterday.

A former minister he was sentenced to two years imprisonment for contempt of Court. His jail term has been reduced by eight months and 21 days following good conduct.

According to Prison regulations a prisoner is entitled to seven days of amnesty on account of independence day 2005.

An additional 14 days of amnesty this year for his good conduct.And eight months and 21 days period is added to this when granting reduced periods for good conduct.

S. B. Dissanayaka lost his parliamentary seat having been absent from the House for three consecutive months. Former UNP minister Renuka Herath succeeded him early this month.
