UNP asks for Geneva agenda by Ananda Kannangara While welcoming the forthcoming talks between the Government and the LTTE in Geneva, the UNP is concerned why the Government has so far not made a clear statement over the full agenda that they are expected to discuss at the talks other than the subject related to the strengthening of Ceasefire Agreement (CFA). In an interview with the Sunday Observer yesterday, UNP Deputy General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka said that it was high time the Government revealed to all political parties in the country as well as the general public about the other matters, they are expecting to discuss at the talks. Referring to recent remarks, made by Media Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa at a press briefing in Colombo, the UNP Deputy General Secretary denied some statements made by the Minister and said that the UNP as the main opposition always stands with any political party to bring a lasting solution to this matter. |
