International relations at BCIS

The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) accepts applications for the Certificate and Diploma Courses in International Relations, which are scheduled to commence in the second week of March 2006.

These programmes are designed to develop an understanding of the contemporary world among the candidates.

They are targeted at those who are interested in international affairs in general as well as those who seek to supplement the general education obtained through the school system.

It will also provide personnel in different academic and professional fields requiring wider awareness of the current international situation with background knowledge of areas of particular interest.

The certificate course create an opportunity for school leavers, undergraduates, public/private sector employees, members of the Armed Forces and Police to acquire the basic knowledge necessary to join in or switch over to the fields of foreign service, foreign missions, NGO and INGOs. The Diploma Course takes a step further with the focus of study on International Law/Human Rights/Recent Developments in Sri Lanka, etc., and designed to stimulate interest in further studies.

On each course, qualified lecturers delivers hands-on instruction through engaging, realistic practice activities. Class sizes are listed to ensure individual attention and sufficient feedback on students' efforts.

All lessons are conducted in the comfortable, air-conditioned lecture rooms of the newly-constructed BCIS building at the BMICH.
