Essential items sent to North

Over 1,966 loads of food, clothes, fuel and medicine had been dispatched to uncleared areas in the North by the Government during February 17 to 23, military sources revealed to the Sunday Observer.

Lorry loads of these essential items reached Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts through Omanthai and Uyilankulam entry points.

The consignments containing rice, dhal, dried fish, spices, vehicle spare parts and building materials were dispatched for the benefit of civilians in uncleared ares.

Meanwhile, the Government estimates that over 36,000 civilians have crossed over from uncleared areas to Vavuniya through the two entry points during the said period.
