The partnership between Shehan Perera and Samarawickrema created a new Big Match record for the fifth wicket between the two schools when they broke the previous best by Sudara Jayawardena ( 67) and Chamara Liyanage ( 59) in 1997. In reply to Thurstan's first innings score of 145, Isipathana who were 157 for 3 overnight went on to make a healthy 267 for 8 declared with a useful lead of 122 runs. Isipathana were able to reach their score mainly due to a 100 run fourth wicket stand between Lakshan Samarasena ( 81) with ten fours facing 120 deliveries and Gamindu Kanishka (55) with nine fours. |
