Centenary Kingswood-Dharmaraja March 24 and 25

By S. M. Jiffrey Abdeen, Kandy sports correspondent

The Centenary Big Match between Dharmaraja College and Kingswood College will be played as scheduled on March 24 and 25 at the Asgiriya International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

Earlier there were some doubts regarding the staging of this match on the scheduled date as there was the possibility of the first Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan being played at this venue on these dates.

But now this clash of dates has been avoided as the second cricket Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will be played at this venue from April 1st onwards, thus making the way for the historical big match and this will be also the first time, a big match in the hill capital will be reaching its 100th year. Though this match is a little older than 100 years, only 99 matches have been played to date and this year will be the 100th Big Match.

The Principal of Dharmaraja College, S. M. Keerthiratne confirmed that this match will be played as scheduled and thanked the authorities who had helped them in numerous ways in staging this historical match on the dates fixed by the two schools.
