South Korean President to reshuffle cabinet

SEOUL, Feb 25 (AFP)

South Korean President Roh Moo-Hyun will carry out a cabinet reshuffle early March to allow his ministers to run in the May local elections, a report said Saturday.

The ruling Uri Party has asked the president to allow some of the incumbent cabinet ministers to run on its ticket to raise its chances in the May 31 mayoral and gubernatorial elections.

Up to five ministers, including the information and communications minister, are likely to be included in a partial cabinet shakeup next week, an unidentified presidential aide was quoted as saying by Yonhap news agency.

"It seems that President Roh will replace up to five ministers on March 2 or 3," he said.
