7,200 Lankan products can enter EU market duty free The Sri Lanka Export Development Board is organising a seminar on exporting to the EU market under GSP+ scheme on March 21 and 22. Around 7,200 products exported from Sri Lanka are eligible to enter the EU market on duty free terms. The GSP+ concession scheme is applicable to vulnerable countries with special development needs such as Sri Lanka. The scheme applicable on a provisional basis from July 2005 will remain unchanged until 2008 but will be reviewed at the end of the period. The objective of this review is to ensure that developmental needs are met effectively. An assessment of the effective implementation of core human and labour rights, good governance and environmental convention will ensure the eligibility for concessions under the scheme. The seminar organised in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Commission of Sri Lanka will be inaugurated by Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion Rohitha Bogollagama at 'Waters Edge', Battaramulla. |
