Lanka Bell - Singer strengthen rural connectivity Lanka Bell tied up with Singer Sri Lanka to market its CDMA postpaid and prepaid phones and cards through Singer's islandwide outlets. Under this agreement all Singer's 270 branches spread across the country will offer Lanka Bell's CDMA Post-Paid/Pre-Paid connections for a monthly instalment making it the most affordable option available for fixed lines in Sri Lanka. The merging of forces between these two leaders in their respective spheres has been seen as one which will dramatically increase the momentum of rural connectivity due to Singer's largest retail spread and one of the lowest monthly instalment schemes offered for fixed lines. Lanka Bell's Managing Director Suren Goonewardene said, "This tie up is primarily in keeping with our underlying philosophy to extend fixed wireless telecommunications to all Sri Lankans and share the benefits of modern telephony. This has been our long-term commitment since our trailblazing CDMA roll out last year. We've since connected thousands of people in remote rural Sri Lanka who've not enjoyed the advantages of a simple telephone connection for years." "Singer has a strong and vibrant commercial presence throughout the country. We're happy to merge our individual synergies and embark on this 'cross-selling' platform for the greater benefit of the Sri Lankan public. I am confident that this tie-up will further enable us to penetrate CDMA connectivity to all parts of Sri Lanka," Goonewardene said. Chairman, Singer Sri Lanka Hemaka Amarasuriya said, "The distribution tie up between Lanka Bell and Singer Sri Lanka will bring CDMA technology closer to the homes of our large and loyal customer base across the nation and further underpin our commitment towards providing all that is durable for the home." |
