Moratuwa murder: Vehicle traced By Jayampathy Jayasinghe The Moratuwa police probing the killing of the retired accountant S. Fernando at his residence at Veluwanarama road Moratuwa last Friday traced the robbed vehicle of the victim's abandoned at Rathanajothi Mawatha Mount Lavinia. HQI Moratuwa Police station, Inspector Rohana Gamage said the killers have been identified and will be arrested soon. The killers had even purchased goods to a staggering amount from robbed credit cards. The retired accountant from the Sri Lanka Tele-Com (SLTC) was stabbed to death by two robbers while grappling the two robbers. The incident took place around 2 p.m. when he returned home Friday before last. The victim was alone at home at the time of the incident. They removed the victim's Nissan car and other household items like the VCD and the Video equipment. The neighbours who rushed to his home on hearing the commotion found him bleeding. They rushed him to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital Kalubowila where he succumbed to his injuries. HQI Moratuwa Inspector Rohana Gamage said they were following several clues to apprehend the robbers. A special team has been detailed, he said. Police Technical Branch officers who visited the scene had found several prints at the residence. SSP Mount Lavinia Sugathapala and ASP Moratuwa Roshan Silva have directed HQI Moratuwa Rohana Gamage and OIC Crime to conduct further inquiries.
