56th Battle of the Golds: Splendid century by Dilhan Cooray

A splendid century by Sri Lanka Schools cricketer and last year's captain Dilhan Cooray was the highlight of the drawn 56th encounter between Prince of Wales' and St. Sebastian's ended in a draw yesterday at Tyronne Fernando Stadium, Moratuwa.

Resuming at 43 for 1, Sebs went on to declare at 271 for 8 with Dilhan Cooray scoring 104 runs including 12 fours. Trevin Fernando the overnight not out batsman went on to score 47 and a good contribution of 39 runs by Gerald Bennett. Bennett and Cooray was engaged in a fourth wicket partnership of 70 runs. Cambrian skipper Isuru Gunasena was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 83.

In their second essay, Cambrians were 134 for the loss of 4 wickets at the close and Rumesh Thirimanne was unbeaten with a well-deserved 57.
