Kandy's 90th Battle of the Blues: Pathirane takes 6 for 42 in drawn game

By S. M. Jiffrey Abdeen - Kandy Sports Corr.

Sixteen-year old left-arm spinner Sachith Pathirana bowling with an injured arm took 6 for 42 to help Trinity to steal the major honours in their hill capital's 90th 'Battle of the Blues' against St. Anthony's which ended in a draw at Katugastota yesterday.

There were several interruptions due to rain and bad light which no doubt robbed the lions of a possible victory which would have been their first in 20 years. On the first day there was no play after 4.20 p.m. due to rain. Yesterday play commenced only at 11.15 a.m. but rain which fell at 3.30 p.m. made play impossible after that due to intermittent showers.

TRINITY COLLEGE - 1ST INNINGS - 242 for 9 decl.

ST. ANTHONY'S COLLEGE - 1ST INNINGS (all out) 111

ST. ANTHONY'S COLLEGE - 2ND INNINGS (for no loss off 2.3 overs) 16
