Navin Samarasinghe in consolation semis

Sri Lanka's Navin Samarasinghe entered the semi-finals in the men's singles consolation event in Squash at the 18th Commonwealth Games now in progress in Melbourne, Australia. Samarasinghe beat St. Vincent and Grenadine's Colin Alexander 3-0.

In the preliminary rounds of Badminton's mixed team event, Malaysia trounced Sri Lanka 5-0. Dinuka Karunaratne and Thilini Jayasinghe lost to Lee and Ooisa, while Karunaratne partnered by Kumarapperuma lost to C. M. Chan and K. K. Koo.

Then in the preliminary rounds of Table Tennis, Sri Lanka's Deepika Rodrigo, Thilina Piyadasa and Pitiyage Silva suffered defeats at the hands of Australia's Peri Campbell (3-1), England's Andrew Rushton and Andrew Baggaley and Silva losing to Baggaley too.
