Holiday crowd flock Nuwara Eliya by P. Rajaratnam What a delight to be in Nuwara Eliya for the large exodus of holiday crowds both locals and foreigners, escaping all the hustles and bustels elsewhere in the country. Already thousands of holiday makers have come in to this holiday resort and those who were unfortunate in finding accommodations have gone towards places like Bandarawela and other holiday resorts within the hillcountry, including Estate bungalows, which have been turned out as holiday destinations. At the moment, the Nuwara Eliya Holiday Season is in full swing, with large holiday crowds have flocked in to this resort. Almost all leading Hotels, Guest Houses, private homes, including dingy rooms are gainfully occupied in addition to those spending their nights in Caravans in their vehicles. There is a boom period for those involved in tourist trade and the business circles, with prices of commodities reaching skyhigh. For the first time the Lake Gregory areas and the Lake itself is fully involved and utilised, catering for the needs of Holiday crowds with liquor, and variety of beer bars, in addition to a floating Restaurant for the first time. The Nuwara Eliya Police have intensified and strengthened all security arrangements in view of the large crowds in Nuwara Eliya including V.I.Ps. The Mayor elect Chandralal Karunaratne for the second consecutive term in succession has put out a full and comprehensive April Seasonal program for the benefit of holiday crowds, which include, motor sports, musical fiestas, golf matches, flower shows, horse racing. The Sri Lanka Insurance's Nuwara Eliya Manager and the Nuwara Eliya Sitha Eliya Lion's club zonal Director young and energetic Nadarajah Sridharan.
