Collect your toolkit on camp management The Camp Management Toolkit published by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) with the support of the European Union's Humanitarian Aid Department will be kept available for the usage of the welfare centres in the North and East. It will also be distributed at ongoing learning workshops and coordination meetings. The toolkit is available in two languages; English and Tamil. The handbook on the technical, administrative as well as the social aspects of the management of conflict and tsunami camps, and the NRC is busy distributing it to the service delivering agencies. It is a remarkable international initiative aimed at improving the living conditions of IDPs and refugees in transitional settlements around the world. The Toolkit provides camp managers with a comprehensive, holistic and practical overview of the full spectrum of camp management responsibilities. It also aims to impart a better understanding of the main issues and difficulties of camp life and to foster a positive cooperation between the camp management, the camp residents and the different agencies working in a camp. As a response to the government's request to train officers and aid agencies delivering services in the tsunami camps the NRC would conduct district-by-district camp management learning workshops in order to build local management capacity as well as to provide skills training and material assistance in the Care & Maintenance of the camps.
