Asit Gupta - new Marketing Chief at CTC
Asit Gupta was appointed Marketing Director of Ceylon Tobacco Company
(CTC) recently. Asit's appointment comes in the wake of Saliya
Weerasooriya (Marketing Director) being seconded to BAT (Singapore) (Pte)
Ltd as General Manager Singapore Domestic.
Asit started his marketing career with Proctor and Gamble in 1994
after his MBA from the Bombay University.
Asit joined BAT in 1998 as Brand Manager - Pall Mall in Russia
driving strong volume growth and making Russia the No. 1 market for Pall
Mall outside the US by 2000. Since 2000, he also managed Kent and
oversaw the national launch of Kent Premium, which is today the No. 1
premium brand in Russia ahead of Marlboro.
Post-Russia, he worked as European Brand Manager on Pall Mall laying
the foundation for the new global brand strategy.
Since mid 2002 he has managed B & H globally as a senior
International Brand Manager.
