Kurunegala - Habarana to be linked by train

The government will take all steps to construct a new railway line
from Kurunegala to Habarana via Dambulla.
This new railway line would be 80 kilometers long and the cost of
construction and successful implementation are around Rs 800 Million
according to the Railway Line Development officials.
The project will be completed under two phases in which phase one is
to construct 56 Kilometers of the line from Kurunegala to Dambulla via
Ibbagamuwa, Gokerella, Melsiripura, Dembawa, Galewela and Thalkiriyagama.
The second phase of the project will construct 24 Kilometers from
Dambulla to Habarana via Pelwehera, Kandalama, Kimbissa, Sigiriya and
Moragaswewa. The construction work on this massive railway line project
will commence early 2007. |
