Sports Minister names VB selection committee

The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Jeevan Kumaratunga has appointed a five-member selection committee for the Volleyball Federation of Sri Lanka. A former Deputy Director of Education, (Sports), U. L. Karunaratne will be the chairman of selectors. The other members are K. A. Ariyasinghe, Ajith Anandasiri, Jayasiri Perera and Ms. Ranthilaka Jayaweera.

Meanwhile 31 youth Volleyballers will face the third trial conducted by the Volleyball Federation of Sri Lanka today (Sunday) at the Royal College indoor stadium, Colombo 7.

These 31 players were selected after the two day second trial held on May 8 and 10.

The trials are being conducted with a view of selecting the players to play at the 13th Asian Junior Mens Volleyball Championships to be staged in Thailand in July.
