Bengal Schools Regatta: S. Thomas', Musaeus in finals
 

S. Thomas and Musaeus rowers put up a fine performance to enter the final of the boys' and girls' Fours event at the Bengal Rowing Club International Schools Regatta held in Calcutta, India yesterday.

The oarsmen and oarswomen from both schools rowed with superior strength, power and balance to make it to the finals.

Thomian 'A' crew comprising of Sakya Kalupathirana (B), Devan Hallock (2) Rajitha Wickremasekera (3), Manil Salgado (S), Yanik Salgado (Cox) entered the final of the Fours defeating Chandigarh Province Crew in a close contest.

Meanwhile, Musaeus 'A' crew comprising of Sachitra Jayatilaka, Uvini Atapattu, Gimani Widanagamage, Menaka Kohana, Vinuri Jayasundara defeated the Calcutta RC in the semi-finals. They will meet the Chennai Rowing Club in the finals.

Musaeus 'B' crew of twins Ushika and Umanga Iddamalgoda, Sanjeevani Kularatne, Miyuru Jayatilaka, Naduni Perera did well to reach the semi-finals and were beaten by Bengal RC.

Thomian 'B' and 'C' crews Naveen Murthy, Arrik Variya, Danushka Jayanetti, Jayan Peiris, Akshath Wickremanayake, Avinash de Silva, Sidath Munasinghe, Sajeeva de Silva, Uwin Jayasinghe and Peter Christie also fared well to reach the quarter finals of the Four event.

Altogether 29 schools teams from Asia and England participated at the regatta conducted by the Bengal Rowing Club in association with the All-India Rowing Federation.
