MoU to promote Iranian trade

An MoU was signed between Iranian Economic Affairs and Finance Minister Dr Danesh Jaffari and Trade, Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle for future economic interactions between the two countries during minister Fernandopulle's visit to Iran.

Minister Fernandopulle visited Iran for the eighth session of the Joint Commission Economic Cooperation. Several agreements were signed during his visit to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.

Among them are agreements on agriculture, tourism promotion and shipping sector cooperation.

He was also able to resolve several outstanding issues affecting the Sri Lankan tea trade during his meeting with the Iran Tea Traders' Association.
