CBL achieves growth in all sectors

The Marketing and Sales Team of Ceylon Biscuits Ltd (CBL) launched their theme for the current financial year as "Operation 321 - the CBL way" at the Annual Distributor Convention and Star Awards presentation ceremony which was held recently at the Waters Edge, amidst a large gathering including the Board of Directors, Overseas Representatives, Members of External Service Agencies and Field Sales Personnel and Distributors.

It is customary for the CBL Marketing and Sales Team to declare a theme for every financial year and everyone in the company is committed to work towards that to achieve corporate objectives.

For instance our theme for 2001/02 was to be number one and we became the market leader by the end of that year, said Nandana Wickramage, Director Marketing and Sales unreeling the theme for the year. He said, "every year since then themes have been launched such as "Push It to the Limit", "Domination X", Hexagonal Attack" and "Power Within" where a total way forward was planned for the year based on the theme.

The main objective of launching this year's theme as "Operation 321 the CBL Way" was to introduce a specific system for Marketing and Field Sales operations including the state-of-the-art automation for three different Sales Forces code named "A", "B" ad "C" ranges, handling brands under the CBL umbrella.

At the Annual Distributor Convention, the performance of the financial 2005/06 year was reviewed in detail by the Sales team and it was revealed that all product ranges marketed by CBL have recorded a substantial growth during the year.

Despite production constraints the Munchee Biscuits range has been able to consolidate its market leadership position in the industry. Ritzbury, the chocolates range having achieved a growth of 35% over the last year has become a strong challenging player in the chocolate market.

The Lankasoy brand of Soya products has been able to regain its market leadership position during the year under review. The newest additions to the company's product portfolio, Cecil fruit drinks and Tiara Cakes have recorded a remarkable growth of 50% and 98%. Ferrero's Tic-Tac, which is marketed by the company, had a tremendous growth of 74% during the 2005/06 financial year, it was reported.

Aloysius Nirmalarajan, Company's Sales representative in Chavakachcheri bagged the CBL Star award as the most outstanding Sales Representative of the company for 2005/06 at the Annual Distribution convention. He received his award from M. P. Wickramasingha, Chairman of Ceylon Biscuits Ltd.
