Felicitated for longstanding HR contribution
Y.S. David was recently felicitated by the Institute of Personnel
Management for his longstanding contribution to Human Resource
Management and to the Institute at a ceremony at the Galle Face Hotel.
Ajith Nivard Cabraal, the Senior Advisor to the President and
Secretary to the Ministry of Plan Implementation was the chief guest.
David, a Fellow Member of the Institute who held positions in the
Council for 10 years and functioned as the editor for a considerable
period was also the Institute's Vice President in 1999/2000.
At present David is the Group Director (Human Resources) of Jafferjee
Brothers Group of Companies, a leading Group of exporters of tea,
garments, fibre and rubber products during the past 60 years. David who
joined the Jafferjee Brothers Group in June 1978, has been with them for
28 years. He has been recognised as the longest serving HR Professional
to work for one group of companies.
He is also a Director of the Group's Garment Factory at the Export
Promotion Zone, Katunayake which employs about 1,200 employees. David
attended a seminar on Labour matters held in Singapore, organised by
Niki International, whose orders were executed at this factory.
David was appointed by the Minister of Labour to represent Employers
to the Wages Boards of the Rubber and the Bristle Fibre Export Trades
and served in this capacity for several years. |
