Talking Point: New Mayor suffers from 'Influenza'?

The newly elected Colombo Mayor seems to be suffering from 'influenza'. Since he took his oaths, he is reported to be looked after by a 'God Father' who happens to be a UNP Parliamentarian well 'cemented' in Colombo by the 'Marine' type.

The Mayor's mother is reported to be sick as she had not seen her son from the day he became Mayor. Early this week, the 'God Father' rushed the new Mayor to the Sulaiman Hospital.

The patient was discharged before Opposition Leader Vasudeva visited the hospital. The patient went missing from that point. On Friday, the Mayor was rushed again to the hospital.

This time it was Apollo at Narahenpita. It is reported that he is suffering from 'influenza' caused by the constant use of an air conditioned car offered to him by his 'God Father' for transport. The Mayor seems to prefer his three-wheeler to the AC car.

He has reportedly pleaded with the 'God Father' to release him. He wants to resign and revert to the three-wheeler. But, the 'God Father', according to sources from the "Green Camp" seems to 'like' the young Mayor very much. "Otherwise, why should he meet those expensive hospital bills", they ask.

Those in the 'Green camp' are afraid that this new 'Influenza' virus may spread to the city of Colombo.
