the Year

Gihan Rupasinghe, the captain of Nalanda College
in the school cricket season is the OBSERVER-BATA Schoolboy
Cricketer of the Year 2006. He was picked for the top award in
school cricket by the panel of umpires from three
associations-Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers, Sri Lanka,
Central Province Cricket Umpires Association and Southern Province
Cricket Umpires Association at Galadari Meridien Hotel.

Rudolph, Amla hammer centuries
Jacques Rudolph (157) and Hashim Amla (128 n.o)
provided the ideal start for the touring South Africans in their
tour opener against a Sri Lankan 'A' team as both completed
centuries as the tourists piled up an impressive first day score of
351 for 3 at the end of the first day in their three day match at
the Colts grounds Havelock Park yesterday.
