Three records by Somsanga

Somsanga Boonnok of Thailand established three new meet records while K. G. G. Menike of Ratnapura and W. Mauriyathilaka of Colombo accounted to two records each on day one of the Sri Lanka masters open athletic championships heed at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.

Boonnok participating in the women's 50 years age category set new marks in the long gap with a distance of 4.4 metres, 80 metres Hurdles with a time of 15.5 secs. and 100 metres dash 'clockings' 15.0 secs.

Meanwhile Menike in the women's 55 years age group established records in the 80 metres Hurdles - 17.86 secs and 100 metres 15.3 secs. Mauriyathilaka's two meet records were in the men's 60 years 100 metres timing 13.4 secs and 400 metres 62.0 secs.

The meet will be continued today commencing from 8.00 am and this meet will be selection trial for the 14th Asian Masters Athletic Championships to be held in November in Bangalore, India.
