Ceylinco Consolidated donates 100 tents
People who fled from their homes after the terrorist attack in
Kebithigollewa have been staying at the Kebithigollewa Central College
since that fateful day. This was a hindrance to the education of the
students and they even went to the extent of staging a protest recently.
In order to provide an immediate solution to this problem, Chairman
Ceylinco Consolidated, Dr. Lalith Kotelawala donated 100 safe tents to
accommodate the displaced. These tents were on a land provided by the
Kebithigollewa Divisional Secretariat and were handed over to the
displaced families. Adequate sanitary facilities were provided to the
inmates under the supervision of the Divisional Public Health Inspector.
Chairperson of the Kebithigollewa Pradeshiya Sabha, Mrs. Kalyani
Karaliyadda said that with the donation of the tents they were able to
shift the refugee camp from the school to this new location thereby
resuming school activites.
Dr. Kotelawala has also planned to provide scholarships to university
students who have lost their parents in this tragic incident.
Kithsiri Ganganath Abeygunawardene, Coordinating Secretary to
President Mahinda Rajapaksa extended his fullest cooperation on behalf
of the Government to make this event a success. The Most Ven. Halmillawe
Dhammarakkitha Thera, Executive Directors of Ceylinco Consolidated,
Krishantha Perera, Sunil Premawardene, Prabath Kularathna and over 200
employees were present.
It was organised by the Ceylinco Sarana Fund under the guidance of
Dr. Kotelawala. |
