MMBL Cyberskills launches ACL English program
MMBL Cyberskills (Pvt) Ltd. together with the Australian Education
and Training Services (AETS) and the Australian Centre for Learning
(ACL) launched the ACL English Program on Wednesday in Colombo.
MMBL Cyberskills, a BOI approved IT training institute will
coordinate the English Training Program which is primarily to assist the
students of the rural community who have no access to proper English
education, MMBL Cyberskills Managing Director, Sunimal Weerasooriya
said.
Weerasooriya said one of the main reasons for the growing
unemployment rate is the lack of good communication skills in the
international language. Students who have graduated from universities or
have completed the GCE (A/L) are not conversant in English.
The ability to communicate properly is vital for students to find
employment. Very often students fail at interviews since they could
hardly speak a sentence properly. Therefore, it is important to
inculcate the ability to speak English well, he said.
IT and English are two vital skills that employers look for in
candidates seeking jobs. Though training in IT is widely available
practical English language training seems to be non-existent especially
in the outstations.
It is to impart practical English communications skills that we
decided to offer training courses for students in remote areas to
develop their knowledge and speech.
ACL offers three main categories of courses, namely general English
for academic purposes and an IETS course focusing on speaking,
listening, reading, writing and grammar. |
