A 'Glade Club Hotel' registered under the Ceylon Tourist Board,
Kotmale Holiday Resort offers 25 beautiful chalet-type bungalows with
all modern facilities. At the inception it belonged to the Mahaweli
Authority and managed by the Ceylon Hotels Corporation (CHC). Surrounded
by beautiful mountains with forest covered slopes and lower tea
plantations, paddy fields, with the soothing sounds of the singing
birds, stands this resort, an ideal family holiday spot, ideally located
to move away from the stress of daily life.
A three and a half hour drive from Colombo along Colombo-Avissawella,
Ginigathhena, Nawalapitiya, the Kotmale reservoir and dam provide a
breathtaking sightseeing to tourists. The resort is ideal for a relaxed
stay with a host of recreational facilities. Cool river bathing in the
river which flows down to the resort, with delicious packeted lunch
provided by the resort, has become very popular among tourists, and is a
common option among guests.
The resort area covers approximately 10 acres with tea plantations,
bushes and shady trees. The chalets are built in between beautiful
flower beds which fascinate tourists.
The air-conditioned restaurant can accommodate over 150 guests. Set
menus, week-end buffets, BBQ and an 'A-la-carte- menu are on offer.
The Kotmale Holiday Resort provides a superb venue for conferences
and training sessions. The environment is conducive to relaxed,
undisturbed concentration and participation to obtain maximum benefits.
For the adventurous type, mountain trekking, fishing and rafting in
the upper banks of the reservoir and overnight camping on the banks of
the reservoir, are arranged by the resort. It is a popular spot for
honeymooners.
