World Spice Festival showcases finest menus
The World Spice Festival, a week-long event of the culinary world
ended on Thursday showcasing some of the finest menus of world
professional chefs. Hotels opened their doors to people across the globe
to visit and savour the culinary masterpieces of talented and renowned
international chefs.
The festival organised by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board (SLTB) proved
to be bigger and better this year. The spectacular highlight of this
year's event was the Global Spice Village at the Sathutu Uyana. The
Hawker Street promotion was a resounding success because it offered easy
access and trouble-free parking with a variety of food at nominal rates.
The SLTB and the HSBC joined to enrich the event that showcased the
work of some of the finest culinary experts across the globe. HSBC, the
sponsor of the event assured that it would be more savory and spicier
than last year.
Participants savoured the diverse flavours of world culinary experts.
The event showcasing some of the delicious menus stirred the gourmet
spirit of consumers, SLTB Chairman, Udaya Nanayakkara said.
The festival was an ideal opportunity for tourists to enjoy a variety
of delectable cuisine ranging from Chinese, Thai, Indian and South
African. It was an occasion to showcase Sri Lanka's culinary talents to
the rest of the world, Nanayakkara said.
HSBC CEO, David J. H. Griffiths said the bank was proud to be
associated with the event and would make it an memorable event for the
