The World Spice Festival, a week-long event of the culinary world ended on Thursday showcasing some of the finest menus of world professional chefs. Hotels opened their doors to people across the globe to visit and savour the culinary masterpieces of talented and renowned international chefs.

The festival organised by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board (SLTB) proved to be bigger and better this year. The spectacular highlight of this year's event was the Global Spice Village at the Sathutu Uyana. The Hawker Street promotion was a resounding success because it offered easy access and trouble-free parking with a variety of food at nominal rates.

The SLTB and the HSBC joined to enrich the event that showcased the work of some of the finest culinary experts across the globe. HSBC, the sponsor of the event assured that it would be more savory and spicier than last year.

Participants savoured the diverse flavours of world culinary experts. The event showcasing some of the delicious menus stirred the gourmet spirit of consumers, SLTB Chairman, Udaya Nanayakkara said.

The festival was an ideal opportunity for tourists to enjoy a variety of delectable cuisine ranging from Chinese, Thai, Indian and South African. It was an occasion to showcase Sri Lanka's culinary talents to the rest of the world, Nanayakkara said.

HSBC CEO, David J. H. Griffiths said the bank was proud to be associated with the event and would make it an memorable event for the culinary world.
