Buddhika Pathirana honoured as the most outstanding young politician of the year (2006)

Provincial Councillor, Southern Provincial Council Buddhika Pathirana bagged the award of the Most Outstanding Young Person of the year in the Political Category at the TYOP (The Outstanding Young Persons of Sri Lanka) Awards ceremony at the Ceylon Continental Hotel.

The TOYP Program of Junior Chamber International Sri Lanka (JCI) serves to recognise outstanding individuals whose personal achievements in a chosen field are outstanding, exemplary and nationally beneficial.

The ceremony dramatises each winner's career in narrative form and provides a stage where the honorees can challenge and inspire young people from and around country.

Buddhika Pathirana came to the political arena as a Provincial Councillor in 2004, on his debut appearance polling the highest percentage of preferential votes in the entire Matara District and the whole island surpassing seasoned politicians.
