Madhavi, Mihiri strike gold

Madhavi Dharmadasa of Western Province and Mihiri Kandanarachchi of Central Province proved their class to win two Gold Medals at the swimming events of the National Sports Festival 2006 held at the Sugathadasa Stadium pool yesterday.

Dharmadasa won both the 50 metres backstroke - 35.02 secs and the 100 metres back stroke - 1:18:18 secs.

Kandanarachchi was successful in winning the 100 metres breast stroke - 1:26:51 secs and 200 metres breast stroke - 3:06:23 secs.

Western Province were on top in the swimming events while swimmers from Central Province fared well.
