Jaffna children get 18,000 kilos of milk food

The Government yesterday dispatched 18,000 kilo grams of milk food for the children in Jaffana by air, acoording to the Media Centre for National Security.

The entire consignment was handed over to the Government Agent (GA) Jaffna, supervised by the Security Forces to ensure that stock levels will be maintained to prevent any scarcities as alleged by the pro-Tiger sympathizers.

The Government, despite threats posed by the LTTE on sea and road transport essentials commodities had been regularly transporting to the North.

Though the LTTE attempted to stress that the closure of the A-9 roadway caused hardships to the people, the Government held the view that the Tigers want to open the road as it loss around Rs. 300 millions by way of 'taxes' or ransom.

The Co-chairs were told that if the Tigers were concerned about humanitarian problems of civilians due to this closure of the road, the Government could not understand why the LTTE attacked vehicles and ships that transported food items to the North.
