Heshan, Madhavi top swimmers at Nationals

H.B.Unamboowa of Trinity and Madhavi Dharmadasa of Asian International School who secured 25 points each were judged best swimmers in the men's and women's categories at the end of the National Aquatic Championship held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium Pool yesterday.

St.Joseph's with 270.50 and Mahamaya College Kandy with 162 points won the team swimming awards.

Trinity College Kandy with 223 points and Royal College securing 81 points were placed second and third in the men's swimming events.

Gateway International College Kandy with 104 points and Asian International School ( 104) points were placed second and third in the women's category.

Madhavi Dharmadasa won the women's 400m Individual Medley with a timing of 5.54.35 sec. and also won 50 m back stroke with a clocking 34.83 and also secured the first place in the 100m back stroke with a timing of 1.15.82.

Unamboowa won the 200m free style with a timing of 2.02.72 and swam the 100m men's back stroke clocking 1.02.73 sec.
