More fatal accidents on Galle Road

Fatal accidents seem to be on the increase on the Galle Road this year due to vehicles being driven at excessive speeds, police said.

Two fatal accidents were reported from the Panadura area yesterday when a recklessly driven bus and a lorry mowed down a motor-cyclist and a pedestrian in Panadura yesterday.

Police identified the motor-cycle victim as H. W. D. Fernando, a retired person.

He was riding his motor-cycle with his wife on the Horana-Panadura road when a bus coming from the opposite direction at an excessive speed collided with the motor-cyclist and proceeded without stopping.
