NICs for O/L students

A special National Identity Cards (NICs) distribution program for the
benefit of students, sitting for the GCE (O/L) examination next month
was initiated by the Department for Registration of Persons (DRP).
The decision was taken following a statement made by the Department
of Examinations recently that NICs are compulsory for private candidates
sitting for the examination next month.
According to the program, all applications forwarded by students at
the DRP Head Office at Keppettipola Mawatha, Colombo 5 will be processed
within three days.
"This special service is applicable only for students, sitting for
the GCE (O/L) examination next month. DRP, Commissioner, A.G. Dharmadasa
told the Sunday observer. The Commissioner also requested students as
well as school authorities to hand over their applications at the Head
Office at Keppettipola Mawatha office and not to send them by post to
avoid delay.
He said public school applicants could send their applications along
with the signatures of the school principals.
The Commissioner said that special arrangements have been made to
collect applications from school children in Northern and Eastern
districts through the respective Government agents. |
