Eight killed in LTTE claymore blast

The LTTE yesterday exploded a claymore mine killing eight people including four soldiers and wounding eleven others in Vavuniya.

The Tigers targeted a security forces convoy on the Vavuniya-Thandikulam road, near an agricultural farm and fired at the troops after the explosion. Those injured were admitted to the Anuradhapura Hospital. One officer and three other ranks were among the dead.

The injured civilians were bystanders who were caught in the explosion.
